 ACCOMPLISHMENTS: CUSTOMER SERVICE

Mayor Duffy has demonstrated commitment to Customer Service:

  • 311 - One Call to City HallEstablished the City's first-ever "One Call to City Hall" customer service initiative
Soon citizens can call just one number (311) to find the person or information they need from their government.

  • Instituted the highly successful
    “Rochester Clean Sweep”
The response has been overwhelming. In its two-year run, more than 10,000 volunteers have turned out to make our city shine. They came from the city, suburban
communities and Clean Sweep!adjoining counties to beautify our
community and often looked for even more ways to contribute.

  • Opened the Durand Eastman Beach for the first time
    in 30 years
Provided the Rochester community with a new, popular and safe recreational opportunity. Since the re-opening of the beach, more than 71,520 people have enjoyed swimming, playing and picnicking at Durand.

  • Implemented “Rochester by the Numbers”
This system gauges the effectiveness of City services and pinpoints areas for improvement, resulting in enhanced customer service.

  • Created “City Hall on the Road”
The monthly event brings Mayor Duffy and his senior staff into neighborhoods throughout the city to answer questions and hear citizens’ thoughts and ideas.

  • Demonstrated commitment of accountability in government Durand Eastman Beach open for swimming
Created the Office of Public Integrity (OPI), headed by Richard Vega, a renowned, retired FBI Special Agent.

OPI investigates reports of fraud, corruption, waste and abuse. It provides ethics education for all City departments and employees. OPI replaced the Bureau of Audit and Review and conducts all City audits.

  • Linking volunteers with City government and non-profit agencies that serve our residents through the One City Connection
This partnership with the United Way, St. John Fisher College and several others encourages volunteerism and takes advantage of the enthusiasm and hope that people feel for Rochester’s future.
