INTERNATIONAL CYCLING EVENT
Mayor Robert J. Duffy and race director Scott Page today announced the details of the two new courses and routes of the 2008 Rochester Omnium. The Rochester Twilight Criterium has been so successful for the past four years that Page has expanded it for 2008. The new and improved event will feature three days of world champion and Olympic cyclists competing in an Individual Time Trial, the Rochester Twilight Criterium and the Rochester Road Race.

MAYOR ANNOUNCES COOL SWEEP
Mayor Robert J. Duffy today announced the 2008 kickoff of operation Cool Sweep, a customer service and public safety initiative designed to provide relief from the heat for those with limited access to swimming and bathing facilities. As part of Cool Sweep, seven day per week operations at Durand-Eastman Beach will begin Mon., June 30.

NEW TEEN CENTERS BOLSTER LITERACY
Mayor Robert J. Duffy was joined today by City Council President Gladys Santiago, Rochester Library Board Trustee Randall Peacock and Library Director Paula Smith to announce new Teen Centers and the expansion of youth programs at the Lyell (956 Lyell Ave.) and Lincoln (851 Joseph Ave.) branch libraries in support of the mayor's community-wide literacy initiative. These programs were developed to retain young people in the library system by teaching them important skills that would encourage them to become life-long library users.

MAYOR INVITES INPUT AT RENTAL SUMMIT
Mayor Robert J. Duffy today announced that the Citys Department of Community Development and Neighborhood Empowerment Teams (NET) will host a Rental Summit, 9 a.m.-12 noon, Tues., June 24 in City Council Chambers, City Hall, 30 Church Street. The focus of the summit will be to discuss the state of rental housing in Rochester and to learn from housing providers and landlords how the City can continue to support their efforts.

A 'PARTY ON THE BRIDGE'
Mayor Robert J. Duffy today announced a free family party celebrating the City's east and west side neighborhoods. The "Bridging Neighborhoods: A Party on the Bridge," will transform Driving Park Bridge (across the Genesee River off Lake Ave.), 7-10 p.m., Fri., June 13, into a venue for family fun, topped off by a fireworks display in the Lower Gorge at 10 p.m. The Bridge will be closed to traffic 6-11 p.m.

ESL Federal Credit Union today announced plans to build a new, six-story corporate headquarters in downtown Rochester. ESL Chief Executive Officer David L. Fiedler revealed a design concept for the building, calling it "a prominent and attractive addition to Rochester's skyline." ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SEASON AT BEACH
Mayor Robert J. Duffy today announced that 2007 attendance at Durand Eastman Beach has exceeded expectations. More than 62,000 residents and visitors enjoyed the amenities at the beach this year, up from the nearly 9,300 who attended last years inaugural season. The beach was open for swimming May 26 - Sept. 9 this year and last years shortened season ran from July 17 - Sept. 4.
