Remembering Dave Husser

This week, East Petersburg lost someone who truly cared about his community.

Dave was the kind of person who didn’t just live in a community, he got involved in it. He gave his time to the East Petersburg-Landisville Lions Club and the East Petersburg Day Events Committee. He showed up, helped out, and truly cared about the people around him.

Several years ago, while talking about his work with the Lions Club, Dave summed up the way he looked at life pretty simply:

“Life’s about giving, not getting.”

I think that says a lot about who Dave was.

Small communities like ours depend on people who are willing to give their time, lend a hand, and get involved without expecting anything in return. Dave was one of those people.

I was fortunate enough to know Dave personally, and I’ll certainly miss the conversations, the laughs, and running into him around town. But as Mayor, I’m especially thankful for the time and effort Dave gave to East Petersburg and the example he set for the rest of us.

My thoughts and prayers are with Nancy, his children, grandchildren, family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

East Petersburg is a better community because Dave Husser was part of it.
